TGIM! What surprises you?

Happy MONDAY! TGIM!

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, answered “Man…. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.” ~Dalai Lama

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: I saw this quote the other day and have seen it before.  And I guess it just makes me think of what might be important in my life.  Am I anxious about the future?  Do I sacrifice my health in order to make money?

I have an office job, so yes in one sense I might be sacrificing part of my health in order to make money.  But I have the freedom to get up once an hour and move around.  I have the amazing chance to workout during my lunch hour by going running or going swimming or perhaps riding my bike as well.  My office has showers and that is an amazing thing.  I try to only work 40 hours a week.  I could be doing things differently in order to live longer and better and I am trying to really live and be present with my family and friends.

So I just invite you to reflect on this quote.  Can you work on yourself?  Can you be less anxious?  Can you work less?  And appreciate your life more?

AFFIRMATIONS OF THE DAY:

I appreciate my life just the way it is. I will count my blessings today. I will stop comparing myself to others. I am a wonderful and unique person.
