Ready, Set, GO!!

QUOTE OF THE DAY:

"A goal is a dream with a deadline." ~ Napoleon Hill

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

On January 22nd, I have a goal.

On January 22nd, I have a dream with a deadline.

On January 22nd, I plan to run about 35 miles.

Running season is in full effect with the newness of the year to add to it. The temperatures in Austin, TX in November, December, and January are optimal for running longer distances without sweating to death. And it just so happens that a couple of things come together during this time of year that makes this week magical.

It's a little something I like to call "Race Week."

All the miles, the tears, the time, and the pain are mostly done.

The training is completed and this week I get to enjoy some regular fitness routines and taper down for the biggest effort of my life.

The 3M Half Marathon is on January 22nd and last year I did a pretty cool thing where I ran 13.1 miles before the race and then ran the 3M Half Marathon 13.1 miles for a total of 26.2 miles.

This year I hope to run between 20 and 26.2 miles before the race and then run the 3M Half Marathon for another 13.1 miles.

If I accomplish this, it will be my longest run to date.

Isn't that exciting? And a little bit crazy?!?

A goal is a dream with a deadline.

I love that about signing up for a race. It automatically creates a hard deadline.

The race date is set for you and then you can back up all your physical training and runs from that day.

I know running is not everyone's cup of tea.

Do you have any goals and dreams that have a hard deadline?

Reply and let me know.
